Practical Nurse (PN) (Open Enrollment Every Thursday)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants to this program must be 18 years or older, provide proof of a standard high school diploma, US GED, or pass the Wonderlic Test with the following scores: verbal 200 and quantitative 210.
Applicants must take the NLN-PN (National League of Nursing Practical Nursing Entrance Exam) and pass with a minimum composite score of 50. Applicants who pass the NLN-PN entrance exam must complete the following steps:
- Successful interview with Program Chair and Campus Director
- Submit to a criminal background check. Applicants with felony convictions within the past 7 years may not be able to enter the program.
- Submit evidence of a physical examination conducted by the applicant’s physician, with clearance that student is fit to participate in academic and clinical activities.
- Applicant must pass a drug test.
OBJECTIVE: FMI’s Practical Nursing program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required for the Practical Nurse career. Students will be prepared to sit for the NCLEX-PN examination, and upon passing the exam and meeting all requirements for licensure, can be gainfully employed as a Practical Nurse. Faith Medical Institute in conjunction with Progressive Training Center will confer a diploma to its Practical Nursing graduates.
DESCRIPTION: This program is designed to prepare practical nurses in the diverse modalities required for patient care in long term and acute care settings. The program includes educational experiences in theory, laboratory and clinical settings, in the base sciences and fundamental nursing knowledge, and progresses to medical surgical, mental health, geriatrics, pediatrics, OB/GYN and other dynamic areas of practice.
